Grace is defined as unmerited, undeserved favor.
How incredible that we receive this from God!
The grace of God is something we read about over and over in Scripture, hear others talk about, and even pray for. I believe the grace of God is so deep that we can’t fully comprehend it, but it is something we need. It’s the grace of God that saves us, helps us, and keeps us on the right track. It’s grace that changes us.
We have so many examples of grace throughout the Bible, all of which we can relate to in some way.
In the Old Testament, there’s grace back in Genesis chapter 3. To see what God showed grace to Adam and Eve after their sin. He could have killed them and started over, He could have done anything He wanted. Yet, God clothed them with the skin of an animal, told them of the burdens they’d face, and even told them of the coming Messiah. That is grace!
Later we see the harlot Rahab. She was known for being a harlot. This was prostitution. Yet, because of grace, she had a part in saving the lives of God’s men, her life was spared, she trusted God, and is later found in the lineage of Jesus! That is grace.
In Matthew, we see the life of Peter. Peter gets a lot of grief, doesn’t he? Always putting his foot in his mouth, speaking and acting before thinking, denying Jesus, and even arguing with the apostle Paul later. Peter was like a bull in a china shop. All 4 Gospel accounts record his denial of Christ. But because of grace, Peter went from panicked to Pentecost. He made a mistake, yes. But that did not discount him from ever being used by God again. Some of us need to repent, accept God’s grace and get busy serving Jesus again!
Lastly, the apostle Paul. God took him from persecuting to preaching. Paul was fervently persecuting Christians. This wasn’t simple persecution and annoyance, he was killing them. Until grace stepped in and God got Paul’s attention. Grace allowed Paul to experience grace, change his life, serve God, and pen half the New Testament.
So, the next time you feel like you messed up too bad, you’ve gone too far, or that God can’t use you, remember these examples. Repent, ask for, and accept the wonderful grace of Jesus! He loves you! Do not listen to the lies of the Devil that say Jesus is sone with you!
Nothing is too much for God and His grace.
No one is too far for God and His grace.
Come home. Come back to God.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
“Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” Romans 5:20
Stay in the Word, stay close to the Shepherd, and let Him lead you in paths of righteousness.
With Hope in His Service,
