By faith. That is how we are to live as Christians. “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17). “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
But it’s not always easy, is it? Our flesh wants to live by sight and reason. We like to have control of our lives. We forget that any control we have is perceived. God is ultimately in control during the easy and the hard times.
What has God called you to do that you know is beyond yourself? He wants you to step out in faith. Trust Him to equip you to do what He calls you to do.
Do you remember when God parted the Red Sea? We know that God parted those waters and dried the ground for the Israelites. But this is not how they crossed to the other side. They crossed by faith. It took faith to trust that God would hold the waters back, that they’d be safe on the other side, and that somehow, Phaorah and his army wouldn’t also get across. “By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned” (Hebrews 11:29).
Everything we do is either by faith or by sight. Had the Israelites waited until Pharaoh reached them to see what God would do, they would’ve died. Not because God couldn’t protect them, but because they didn’t trust Him enough to take the route of safety He laid out before them.
I challenge you to read all of Hebrews 11. Study those mentioned in detail. They had trials and sin in their lives just like we do. But they chose to trust God and follow His leading in their lives.
Friend, you don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to know how things will work out.
Just take the first step and trust God. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105.)
Walk by faith.
Stay in the Word, stay close to the Shepherd, and let Him lead you in paths of righteousness.
With Hope in His Service,
Heather
