Leviticus 10:10-11 “And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.”
Is there a difference in your home and life between things that are holy and things that are not? We’re told over and over again in Scripture that God’s people should not be the same as the lost. God is a holy God and has called His people to holiness. He’s also called us to teach others the same. Do you have rules and boundaries in your home based on the Word of God? Are there things you don’t allow? I sure hope so.
In today’s world, we have access to everything at any time. Between television and its commercials,
shows, and movies, to our smartphones and computers, there’s nothing we can’t access. There’s nothing your children can’t access. Titus 2:5b says, “…that the word of God be not blasphemed.” Ladies, this is the ‘why’ for living as God commands in the verses before this. We have a responsibility to keep our homes, to be watchful and vigilant of what’s coming inside and influencing ourselves and our families.
“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16 KJV
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 KJV
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;” 1 Peter 1:15 KJV
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” 1 Peter 2:9 KJV
“Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 20:7 KJV
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV
I believe God is clear in His expectations and standards for His children. As a Christian, we should live differently from those that don’t know the Lord. This is your testimony. This is your light shining to bring others to Jesus.
We should have standards and convictions for our homes as well. We shouldn’t let our children access any and everything. We should have standards for what they watch, read, listen to, who they hang out with, where they go, etc. We must teach them, in love, from Scripture that God has boundaries for our lives. Those boundaries are for our good and our protection.
Are you putting a difference between holy and unholy? Are you teaching your children the standard of God? Are you being vigilant about what comes into your home?
Don’t quit. Don’t let Satan have his way. Keep standing. Keep protecting. Keep living for Jesus.
Stay in the Word, stay close to the Shepherd, and let Him lead you in paths of righteousness.
With Hope in His Service,
Heather
