Have you stopped to really think about the authority of the Bible? If you are saved, then you believed and accepted the authority of the Bible when God said we are all sinners, none are righteous, and ye must be born again. You believed that and accepted salvation. If you have been baptized, you accepted the authority of the Bible and followed the example of Jesus to be baptized. So for the most part, we accept it to some degree.
At least, until God narrows in on something we don’t want to talk about.
I want to remind you that God said it, and that settles it. His authority isn’t based on whether we believe and accept it or not. God is God. The Alpha and Omega. The Beginning and the End. The Way. The Truth. The Life. He is the I AM. Our views and opinions do NOT change God. He is the same yesterday, to day, and forever according to Hebrews 13:8. His character doesn’t depend on our feelings and opinions. He gave us the Bible so we can know Him as He is. Not as we want or think Him to be.
So I want to look at a few things God clearly lays out in His Word for us.
1- “Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:31
2- “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14
3- “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” 1 Peter 2:9
4- “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”Psalms 127:3
“Are” is a state of being verb. It’s a reference of existence. It is found in all four of the verses I listed. God simply says “this is how it is.” And that’s the end. Who are we to argue with the Creator? So, let’s take a look at these verses.
#1- You may feel like you are not valuable, but here, God clearly says you ARE. Nothing can change that.
#2- You ARE the light. We see shirts, notebooks, posters, etc. that remind us to “be the light”. You already ARE the light of you are saved. You don’t have to do anything more. You ARE the light. You just have to choose to let it shine rather than hide it.
#3- You may feel like you don’t belong, like you aren’t special, like no one cares. But here, God has already said you ARE chosen. You ARE a royal priesthood if you are saved.
#4- You may be experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. You may be an adopted child. You ARE an heritage of the Lord and you ARE loved by Him. That unexpected pregnancy did NOT take God by surprise. He has a purpose and a plan for that child. Children ARE blessings! They are hard. Absolutely. But God is great and He will help you raise those babies if you’ll ask Him.
Will you believe Him today? Will you simply trust Him? He’s already said who you are. Let your identity be found and anchored in God.
